About Robert
Rob’s first car was a 1979 RX-7 bought in Nashville TN in 1987. It got pretty fast with a ported13B, Mikuni Side draft carbs, and dual 2-1/2″ stainless exhaust. Rotary Engineering’s suspension kit with strut tower braces, Koni adjustable shocks, performance springs, adjustable rear sway bar, and of course a really big front sway bar made it stick like glue. It died on the track at Portland International Raceway a long time ago, but continues to rust quietly in the driveway. Its been his lifelong dream to be a race car driver, and an RX-7 at that! Rob is the new guy, joining Gray Cloud in 2023, and after passing the mechanic’s and driving tests got in the seat in 2024.
“I love the rotary. I used to ride the 70’s Yamaha RD-350/400’s, two-stroke twin street bikes. Like a two-stroke the rotary’s horsepower and torque peak at red-line. It just keeps pulling harder! Makes for a VERY fun car!”
